Our story

A music school with a church musician’s heart.

Founded in 2018, DCMA teaches piano, aural and theory to the graded exam standard and helps students carry it into worship and beyond.

Founder and Director

Evangelist Oluwafemi Aladejare

Oluwafemi founded Disciples of Christ Music Academy in 2018. He teaches piano, aural training and music theory to children and adults, and has taught families in Abuja for many years. He holds the Musical Society of Nigeria Grade 7 certificate in piano and prepares and presents candidates for ABRSM piano and theory examinations up to Grade 5.

His teaching joins two things that rarely meet: the discipline of the graded exam syllabus and the joy of playing in church. Students learn to read fluently, understand the theory behind what they play, and use their skill in worship and beyond.

How we teach.

Three habits run through every class, from Foundation to Grade 5.

Habit one

Read first

Students learn to read notation fluently from the first term, so they are never stuck copying by ear.

Habit two

Theory with every piece

Each piece is taught with the theory inside it: the key, the cadences, the shape of the phrase.

Habit three

Exams as milestones

Graded exams give students a clear goal each year, and termly mock exams show how close they are.
